Prof. Yong Poovorawan
Yong Poovorawan, was born on November 5, 1950 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Thai physician, educator. Recipient National Research award Thai National Research Council, 1994, Outstanding Research award Foundation for Promotion of Science and Technology, 1997, Outstanding Researcher award Thai National Research Council, 1997; senior research scholar Thailand Research Fund, 1997. Member Pediatric Society of Thailand.
He is widely noted for his research in the fields of pediatric hepatology, viral hepatitis and virology, and is regarded as a subject expert on the H5N1 avian influenza virus in Thailand. The fourth of six children, he is the younger twin brother of Yuen Poovarawan, computer scientist and Vice President of Kasetsart University.
Yong Poovorawan has been listed as a noteworthy Physician by Marquis Who’s Who. Member Pediatric Society of Thailand.
